A Brangus cow or heifer is the result of breeding a Brahman Bull and an Angus Cow. Ideally, the genetic makeup of a Brangus is supposed to be 3/8th Brahman and 5/8th Angus. They aimed at developing a beef that mixed the hardiness of the Brahman with the superior qualities of an Angus cow. So, the American Brangus Breeders Association was formed, which was later rechristened the International Brangus Breeders Association (IBBA).
Following the formation of the association, certain regulations were put down to standardize the breed and maintain the quality of the beef and milk produced.
