Vaginal Surgery–4 of the Most Popular Types

Whether you have experienced physical changes from childbirth, are struggling with abnormally heavy periods, or are not seeing success from Kegel exercises,a type of surgery called "laser vaginal rejuvenation" can be a welcome relief.

This type of surgery can be done several different ways.  Some of the most common types are:

1.Laser vaginoplasty

Similar to plastic surgery for your vagina, laser vaginoplasty can make you look like a Playboy model–even if you have given birth to several children.Or, laser vaginoplasty can be used to reconstruct the outside of your vagina if you have suffered some sort of injury or trauma.During surgery, your doctor can remove excess fat, excess skin, and even reconstruct your hymen, so that you get the exact look, shape, and sensation that you want.

2.Labia reduction surgery

Many women are embarrassed by the size of their labia.  They are afraid to be intimate with their partners for fear that they do not look "normal".During this minor surgical procedure, elongated or uneven labia can be shortened or sculpted. In many cases, the excess skin along the clitoris is also reduced.

Labia reduction surgery can help women get more sexual gratification.  Additionally, it is a popular choice for women who want to overcome the effects of both aging and childbirth.

3.Bladder prolapse surgery

If you tend to lose a bit of urine when you sneeze, laugh, do any kind of physical activity, or have sex, you may have what is called a bladder prolapse–or, what happens when your bladder herniates through the walls of your vagina.

A bladder prolapse is usually caused by the weakening of the muscles and ligaments around your pelvis. If your pelvis is not strong enough to support your bladder, gravity will take over, and your bladder will start to sink into your vagina.

During bladder prolapse surgery, a tiny piece of mesh tape –also called a sling–is inserted beneath your urethra. The sling can be inserted during an outpatient surgical procedure that takes about an hour.According to research, the sling reduces incontinence in about 80% of patients.

4.Surgery for heavy menstruation

If your periods are very heavy and very painful, you may be suffering from heavy menstruation.Abnormally heavy periods aren't just uncomfortable though; if left untreated, they can lead to anemia, fatigue, and abnormal blood clotting.

During heavy menstruation surgery, your uterine lining will be destroyed. The scar tissue that naturally develops during your recovery will prevent you from losing too much blood during future periods.
