The next Audi A3 model, the carmaker's premium hatch, has had a noticeable revamp – the three-door hatchback has grown a fourth door and new saloon body. The German manufacturer estimates around 3000 new Audi A3 cars will be sold every year in the UK, across its three-door hatch, five-door Sportback, Saloon and Cabriolet models. The new Audi A3 is based on Volkswagen's "Modularer Querbaukasten" (MQB) architecture, or modular transverse-engine platform, which is slightly longer and wider than the current A3. The concept will be integrated across the Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, and Škoda production lines. Powering the new Audi A3 is a turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine, with four-wheel drive and a seven-speed, dual-clutch S-tronic transmission.
Inside, the Audi A3 dashboard is simply laid out and uses the MMI interface - a touchpad that lets you change in-car settings easily, and incorporates an internet connection. The MMI directs a state-of-the-art navigation system with high res map graphics and a powerful stereo.
