Must Have Items For Your Next Hiking Trip

When taking a hike, you need to bring along several supplies to ensure that you will be safe in the event of an emergency. These supplies include things like a Camelbak Water Bottle, a good set of hiking boots, and some gear to protect you from rain. This article will offer a brief discussion on why you need those items as well as what you should keep in mind while choosing those items. In addition to those three items, you should also carry a daypack with a map, a compass, a first aid kit, sunscreen, bug repellant, a whistle and a flashlight.

It is important to choose your hiking boots carefully as the wrong pair can cause discomfort that may prevent you from finishing your hike. A good set of hiking boots will offer several features. Its padding should be thick enough to protect your feet from rough terrain. Its soles should have good treads that will give you traction as you walk. It is also important to choose boots that are five to seven inches high instead of just wearing sneakers. The extra height will work to prevent you from twisting an ankle or suffering other serious injuries.

Once your feet are comfortable, it is time to make sure that you do not become dehydrated during your hike. If you develop a headache or if you feel dizzy or weak, you may be dehydrated. The amount of water that you should drink while hiking depends upon several factors. However, you need at least a liter of water on a short hike on a cool day and a gallon of water on a long hike. A Camelbak Water Bottle will let you carry a lot of water on your back, and it will allow you to sip from your water bottle without having to move around a lot of stuff.

Most of the time when it rains, it is not a big deal. However, sometimes rain can move in quickly and soak a hiker. If the rain is also accompanied by cold winds, a wet hiker could develop hypothermia. This is especially true if you are hiking in the mountains where storms tend to appear with little to no notice. Thus, you should always carry an emergency poncho, or something else that can keep you dry.

Hiking is a great way to get exercise and enjoy beautiful scenery. However, it can be dangerous if you are not well prepared. Novice hikers should stick to well-trafficked trails. However, whether you are a novice or an expert, you should always remember to bring all of the supplies that you need. These supplies include rain gear, a Camelbak Water Bottle, and a good pair of hiking boots.
