Easy To Carry And Versatile Kits

The most commonly known form of First Aid Kits is typically carried in an automobile. It is a collection of supplies that is available as a pre-assembled kit in most stores that carry car supplies. They are usually available in fabric pouches or hard plastic containers. While these automobile First Aid Kits hold a general selection of bandages, gauze and other item, Personal First Aid Kits contain supplies that are just that, personal.

Personal First Aid Kits can be assembled in just about any container imaginable. From cushions, airtight plastic bags, or even little pouches.  What kind of container is suitable depends on the individual uses and content. It is recommended to use a waterproof container, but this may not be practical at all times. Automobile, home, and Personal First Aid Kits have to be checked regularly, and restocked if items were used, damaged or expired.

Personal First Aid Kits should be carried on hiking /camping trips, business trips, and vacations. They are also useful at sporting events and as a backup to the supplies kept at home. The content of Personal First Aid Kits should include basic supplies and personal supplies.

Basic supplies are adhesive bandages in different sizes for minor cuts and scrapes, plastic tweezers to remove splinters, and antibacterial wipes to clean minor wounds. Personal kits that are used on hiking /camping trips should also include sterile gauze pads, sterile eye pads, sterile non-adherent pads, as well as bandages, gauze and elastic bandages. Butterfly closure strips that can be used instead of stitches to close wounds, and a sterile solution to clean wounds are also basic necessities on a hiking/camping trip. A pain killer and fever medication should be added as a basic item to any kit.

The individual needs of the hiker/camper determine additional supplies. Moleskin to prevent blisters, instant cold packs for sprains, an Epinephrine auto-injector( Epipen) to treat anaphylactic shock and possibly Loperamine as an anti diarrhea medication, are items Personal First Aid Kits could contain. But at the end, it depends on the individual and what he/she deems necessary to bring for an emergency.

Personal First Aid Kits used on business trips, vacations, or at sporting events are usually not as extensive. Even though the supplies for minor cuts and scrapes are usually included, the focus is more likely on medication that is not readily available at the vacation destination, personal prescriptions and common medications from antihistamines, pain killers to fever medication. First aid kits for sporting events would contain ready to use ice packs, liquid bandaid, and elastic bandages to take care of sprains.

Personal First Aid Kits are as individual as the person carrying them. Even though it may be a hassle sometimes to carry them around with you, at the end the advantages of having the supplies when they are needed definitely outweigh the disadvantages of carrying them around.
