Do You Need Class 2 Training?

Many people want to drive heavy goods vehicles. But in actual fact the industry has now gone through a reclassification that means there is technically no such thing as Class 2 training or Class 2 driving any more. Instead Class 2 vehicles are now known as LGV Category C vehicles, or ‘rigids'. This means the vehicle does not have a cab that moves independently of the rest of the vehicle.

In order to get work in Class 2 driving situations, you must make sure you get the right licence. Once you have had the required training you will need to pass a test for the type of driving you want to do. Class 2 driving– or LGV category C as it is now known – requires you to pass a test before you can legitimately drive these vehicles. You will then have a licence to drive the vehicle you have passed a test for, and you will need to show this licence whenever you apply for work in the industry.
