The Crusades Were Good

The Crusades were good as they promoted Christianity throughout the world.  There are some that thing that the ruthless murders and tortures done in the name of Christ during the crusades were counterproductive to the teachings of Jesus Christ, but there are those who feel that the Crusades were a success because they actually converted a great deal of people across the globe to the Christian religion. 

 

The crusades took place a thousand years ago.  The purpose was to bring one religious belief to the world, which was Christianity.  The Crusades were good if you were a Christian or if you were looking for a new religion and wanted to convert.  The crusades were a success in the amount of people that it converted.  However, because most people want to live even more than they want to practice a religious belief, they are easily converted under the threat of death.  This is how the crusades were accomplished, those who deviated from what was considered acceptable in Christianity were murdered. 

 

Islam was one of the religions that the crusades fought about.  They were successful in converting many away from Islam as well as converting a great deal of the world.  There are cities in the Middle East today that were the subject of fierce battles during the crusades.  During this period of time, any religion that deviated from Christianity was considered heresy and those who did not convert were killed, often being burned at the stake. 

 

Today, there is a new takeover of religious beliefs across the globe.  While most Christians have calmed down over the past thousand years and have a live and let live attitude, at least most of them, a new threat has come from the east in the name of Islam.  This is the fastest growing religion in the world and many see similarities between the Crusades and the terrorist attacks on infidels in the west by Islamic extremists as being very similar.  Those who are atheists are quick to point out the error of the crusades in that they murdered many people during this period of time in the name of God, but ignore the threat from Islam.  Although Muslims are not going door to door torturing people in the west and getting them to convert under the penalty of death, they can use weapons like terror attacks and murders of individuals who are offensive to Islam to actually have their own type of crusades right in the midst of the modern world. 

Those who do not think that the crusades were a good idea and those who think that they were a great way to spread the word of Christ have to see that what is taking place across the globe by some radicals in Islam is very similar to what took place during the beginning of the crusades.  While the idea of being forced to convert to Islam or die sounds ludicrous to many people, that threat may become very real if total war is declared on the west by radical Islam.  Especially since a great deal of those who practice this religion are in high populations in western countries.
